Where your files live.
- Direct sends
- Go straight from one device to the other and are never stored anywhere. No account needed.
- Files sent with an account
- Are stored in the cloud, but only in encrypted form, until they expire. You choose how long, from 1 hour up to 7 days.
- Who can read them
- Not us. The file is sealed in your browser and the key stays in the link, which never reaches our servers. You can also add a password.
- Opening it again
- The sender can open it from their dashboard on the device they sent it from. Anyone with the link, and the password if there is one, can open it until it expires.

Before you ask
Who counts as a student?
Anyone enrolled at a school, college or university. You need a school email address, and you tell us your school and course when you ask.
How do you check?
By hand. We look at your school email, your school and your course, and then upgrade your account. If something does not add up, we write back to ask.
How long does the student price last?
For as long as you study. We check again once a year.
Do I need an account to send a file?
No. Direct sends are free for everyone and need no account. The student plan adds held files, a history and a dashboard.
Is it really private?
Files are sealed in your browser before they leave your device. Ferry cannot read them.
