Cookies and local storage

Last updated 27 October 2026

The short version

Ferry does not use advertising cookies, and it does not track you across other sites. It keeps a small amount of data in your browser so the app works, and it can count anonymous usage if you allow it.

Your choice

When you first visit, a banner lets you accept everything, keep essential storage only, or choose. Essential storage is needed to send and receive files, so it is not switched off by the banner. The only optional item is anonymous usage counting. You can change your choice at any time.

Clearing it

You can remove all of this from your browser settings at any time. Clearing local storage removes your device identity, your history on this device and the keys for held files you sent, so keep a copy of anything you still need first.

Anonymous usage counts

If you allow it, Ferry adds one to a daily total when a transfer completes or a feature is used. The count carries no name, device identifier or file detail. Declining stops these counts from your browser. We also keep a daily total of how many visitors accepted or declined, so we know whether the banner is clear.
